Western NY
Western New York is an outdoor playground characterized by proximity to two of the Great Lakes and the stunning Niagara Falls.
The Western New York region is strategically located on lakes Erie and Ontario, at the Canadian border. Although best known for Niagara Falls, the region’s physical attributes are numerous and provide opportunities for four-season sports.
The area is home to more than 500 parks and playgrounds, including Allegany and Letchworth state parks, more than 100 golf courses, and a dozen alpine and cross-country ski resorts. Spectator sports include professional football, hockey, soccer, lacrosse, triple-A baseball and a full complement of collegiate sports. Buffalo has the largest concentration of theaters in the state outside of New York City. The region is home to a symphony, an array of art galleries and museums, historic homes, architectural treasures, the Buffalo Zoo and the world-famous Chautauqua Institute.
