Capital Region
Choose from a wide variety of lifestyles in the rural and urban areas of the Capital region.
The Capital region is located midway along the eastern border of New York State. It encompasses portions of the Hudson and Mohawk river valleys, as well as portions of the state’s two major mountain ranges, the Adirondacks and the Catskills.
Affordable living, a wide range of educational opportunities, lifestyles from urban to rural, and many cultural and recreational offerings are characteristic of the Capital region. Sports fans enjoy a variety of professional and collegiate sporting events, or take to the outdoors for water sports, golf, hiking or skiing. Saratoga is home to the nation’s oldest thoroughbred track and a trotting track, as well as the summer home of the New York City Ballet and the Philadelphia Orchestra. Museums and other cultural offerings are plentiful in this region that retains its forested, rural character.
