Close proximity to New York City adds a cosmopolitan flair to this region, while the nearby Finger Lakes region offers breathtaking scenery, recreation opportunities and winery tours. Outdoor sports enthusiasts enjoy fishing, hunting, camping, and boating along the Susquehanna River. Golf fans can hit the links on one of many challenging golf courses, or be a spectator at the PGA’s Dick's Sporting Goods Championship Tour in Broome County or the LPGA’s Corning Classic in Steuben County. Racing fans can catch NASCAR action at Watkins Glen. Hiking trails are plentiful in this region that retains its forested, rural character.
