The Finger Lakes region stretches from Lake Ontario southward to the Southern Tier, carved by 11 long, narrow bodies of water that give the region its name.
Excellent educational institutions, an advanced health care system, and many cultural and recreational offerings make the Finger Lakes a highly desirable place to live and work. Diverse cultural opportunities abound in the many art galleries, historic sites, theaters and museums. Horse racing, zoos, winery tours, minor league sports and amusement parks are all available in the region. Water sports and fishing in the warmer months give way to skiing in the winter.
