NYSEG Awards $500,000 Grant to George Urban Associates for Redevelopment of Former Quebecor World Building
NYSEG and RG&E Invest $40 Million in Growing Businesses Over Four Years
Rochester, NY – NYSEG, a subsidiary of Iberdrola USA, recently awarded a $500,000 economic development grant to George Urban Associates, LLC. for utility infrastructure investments completed during redevelopment of the George Urban Business Center at 2475 George Urban Boulevard in Depew. The 67-acre property was once home to Quad Graphics, a commercial printing company that purchased Quebecor World in 2010. Two buildings with a total of 820,000 square feet have been renovated for warehousing, light manufacturing and offices.
"NYSEG is pleased to assist George Urban Associates’ continued growth and the benefits it brings to our communities,” said Mark S. Lynch, president and CEO of NYSEG and RG&E. “This project is a prime example of why we have economic development grant programs – the programs are excellent catalysts for capital investment that protects and creates jobs in upstate New York.”
“The funding that we received from NYSEG’s economic development team helped us renovate and upgrade an aging building and offer prime space customized for new customers,” said Michael Myszka, CFO of George Urban Associates.
Sonwil Distribution is among many new tenants at George Urban Business Center. More than 200 employees are currently working at the property that has been vacant since 2011 when Quad Graphics closed the plant and moved operations to its North Carolina facility.
The NYSEG grant is part of approximately $40 million of NYSEG and RG&E economic development investments over the last four years.
